on editing…

I was just rereading some of my previous posts across all of my blogs and… ish! I really should learn how to edit my work before clicking on that “publish” button. Some mistakes I always commit are wrong grammar, redundant words, missing words or letters, wrong or missing punctuation, and of course misspelled words.

I write my entries on Microsoft Word first so there shouldn’t be excuses for misspelled words but well, I think I have the knack of ignoring underlined words. This and some minor mistakes are because of carelessness and the major ones are due to my limited knowledge of English.

I do read my posts before I publish them but I suppose the problem is that I just wrote them and they’re still in my head. Some good writers suggest that you should do your editing at least a day after the writing. In this way your mind is sort of refreshed and therefore, it will see mistakes better.

Thing is, I don’t exactly have the luxury of not publishing my post immediately after writing them because I always feel that my blogs are screaming for posts and that they’ll die if I deny them another day of updating them.

This post, like many others, will be posted a minute after I decided that it is done. I most probably have a lot of mistakes again… I know… but… well, I will try harder to be better at editing next time.

on boxing

I am not a fan of boxing but I want to write about it now because I am overwhelmed by the recent outpour of twitter tweets, Friendster and Facebook status updates, and blog entries about the Pacquiao versus Cotto match. I  am really amazed by the number of the people in my buddy list that support Pacquiao and I can’t blame them. Pacquiao is a really good athlete. I haven’t watched any of his matches to the end but I get to read the results (…because I can’t help it. They’re all over the net). I haven’t done or posted anything that shows support to Pacman but I like many Filipinos, I am proud of Pacquiao because of the simple fact that he is really good at what he does (boxing not politics).

I didn’t watch the match. I don’t watch a boxing match in general because I can’t stand seeing people getting beaten up. I also don’t watch wrestling even though I know that it is all pretend.

The thing is… I get a bad feeling to see people fighting (yes, even if it is just a sport) and worse if one of them is bleeding, bruised, or obviously hurt. You probably wouldn’t believe it but watching a boxing match could make me cry. I always pity the one who’s losing.

I don’t like violent sports and by violent sports I mean any sport that requires the contenders to hurt their opponent to gain points. If they wear protective clothing like in some of martial arts sports, then it’s okay.

There’s another Pacquiao fight coming up and I hope he will win but I will definitely NOT watch it because I know that while others will be rejoicing at his blows, I will be praying for his poor opponent. That doesn’t make me a good boxing match audience, does it?

theme improvement

It’s a gloomy Saturday morning here and although it seems to be such a gooooood time to stay in bed and have a prolonged sleep, I decided to get out of bed. The only explanation to this is I’m probably out of my mind. So anyway, I didn’t like to waste my effort getting up early so I did something useful. I changed my theme’s color.

With hubby’s help, I am able to change the color of my current theme. I am not a Photoshop pro so the simple job of changing the colors took me about 2 hours but I am quite proud of myself.

This is how it looked like before.

vienspot

There’s nothing wrong with it except that it is sooo… manly so I decided to change it to red and pink to show a woman’s touch. What do you think? Better?

first entry

Hello, welcome to my yet another blog! (I just can’t stop, can I?)

You probably know me from my other blogs and you probably know that I tried to cut down on my blogging a few months back just to find myself creating another one now. It’s totally crazy if you ask me.

I know (and my husband so often points out) that I am addicted to blogging. But why not? It is fun and it brings some nice benefits too.*wink

So , why Vien’s Pot?

Well, I liked it more to call this blog Vien’s Spot but that’s just too much “s” on the domain name (viensspot.com) so Vien’s Pot it is. I wanted a name that will imply that this blog is not just about one thing because this blog will be talking about anything I deem worthy of my interest (hehe).

And the theme?

I like this theme. Not my first choice but I decided to settle for it (for now). Thing is, there are a lot of wonderful girly themes in EZWPthemes.com but the problem is that none of them is easy to customize. So I decided to use this theme by Web-Kreation. It is simple, clean, and most importantly, it is easy to work with it. I’ll probably change the color though when I’ve got the time.

So, there!

Cheers to this new blog!
