Our place is on a standstill. It has not seen changes for about a month now. After we got our home office furniture and our bed, we sort of slowed down with the furnishing. We have all the basics now—this is according to my husband. To some degree, I agree with him. We have everything we need and some other extras. Now we can slow down a bit so we can give our finances a break. We’ve been spending like crazy on our new place but I think that is understandable.
But there’s one thing I want to be done soon and that is the curtains. After living for more than six months here, we still don’t have curtains. We already have venetian blinds that give us the privacy when we need it but I want some real curtains from a fabric that will allow the light to go in but will “hide” what’s happening inside the house. There are a lot of lovely cheap venetian blinds and we have those outside the windows already but for the inside, I’d go for some traditional curtains or some roman shades.
I hope we can do this soon so I can say that we have ALL the basic things. After this we can rest for a while with furnishing and beautifying our house. Maybe we can focus on buying a new car because that’s also one thing we need at the moment.
This was the very first room we finished. Before moving in to this house, we made sure that we have the proper place for nature’s calls. Last week, we decorated it with real orchids so it has a little bit of tropical and Asian element (Looks very Japanese if you ask me). The toilet and the vanity set are from HORNBACH. The orchids’ pot is from China. We saw it in one of our moving boxes and I can’t really remember where we got it from. The floor tiles are of dark grey color and the wall tiles are plain white accentuated with an aluminum boudoir. We don’t have the know-how about tiles so we had the tile job done professionally.
